The internet is bustling with traffic, but not all of it comes from humans. Bots – automated scripts and programs – roam the digital landscape as well. Some of these bots can benefit your site or business, but others? Not so much.

In this article, we’ll explore the most important reasons why some people opt to block unwanted bots from their site. Following that, we’ll show you how to block unwanted bots from your site using Yoast SEO.

Should you block bots from your site?

Blocking Google AdsBot

One of these bots crawling the web is called Google AdsBot. Google AdsBot is designed to assess the quality of landing pages to improve ad delivery to end-users. It evaluates the content on pages linked to ads, to make sure the content on those pages is relevant and of good quality.

So why would people want to block Google AdsBot? Well, for example, if they want to prevent the bot from consuming resources on their server, especially if they are not running Google Ads. Another reason could be to avoid potential security risks associated with bots accessing the site.

However, blocking Google AdsBot can have serious negative consequences if you are running Google Ads. It can negatively impact how Google assesses the quality of the landing pages for ads, which can, in turn, affect the performance of running Google Ads campaigns.

Blocking AI bots

Many of the other bots traveling the web are AI bots. These bots are pivotal in training content for AI models. They crawl sites, harvest data, and play a big role in training Large Language Models (LLMs) and the broader field of artificial intelligence (AI).

When deciding whether or not to block AI bots from your site, you need to consider a few things. On the one hand, blocking AI bots safeguards your unique content and enhances your data security. It can also save server resources, because AI bots can generate considerable server load when crawling and indexing pages.

But on the other hand, keeping these bots at bay might hide your site from some online searches and might hold back the growth of AI technologies. And, you should be careful: if you try to block certain unwanted bots, you might accidentally block the good ones.

Do you want to learn more about all this? Dive into our detailed article about the implications of (not) blocking AI bots.

How to block unwanted bots from your site

Yoast SEO has introduced a feature to make it simpler for users to block unwanted AI bots. Here’s how you can use Yoast SEO’s settings to prevent these AI bots from crawling your site.

If you’re using Yoast SEO free, you’ll only be able to block Google AdsBot from crawling your site. Yoast SEO Premium users also have the possibility to block Google Bard and Vertex AI bots, OpenAI GPTBot, an Common Crawl CCBot from your site.

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard.

  2. Click ‘Yoast SEO’ in the admin menu on the left-hand side.

    Screenshot of the "Yoast SEO" menu item.

  3. Click ‘Settings’.

    In the menu that expands below ‘Yoast SEO’, click ‘Settings’.

  4. Click ‘Advanced’ and then ‘Crawl optimization’.

    In the Yoast SEO settings screen, click ‘Advanced’ and ‘Crawl optimization’.
    Screenshot of the crawl optimization menu item.

  5. Scroll down to ‘Block unwanted bots’.

    Scroll down until you see the section called ‘Block unwanted bots’.

  6. Use the toggles to block bots from your site.

    There are separate toggles for Google AdsBot, Google Bard and Vertex AI bots (or: Google-Extended bot), OpenAI GPTBot, and Common Crawl CCBot. When you switch a toggle on, you block that bot from crawling your site.

Do you want your product reviews to be visible in the search results? By pairing Fera with Yoast SEO on your Shopify store, you can effortlessly showcase those glowing reviews, right where potential customers are searching. Dive in to see how you can set this up and amplify your store’s online presence.

How does the Fera and Yoast SEO integration work?

When the Yoast and Fera apps are combined, Yoast acts as a bridge. It takes the ratings from Fera’s review app and translates them into a format that search engines can read, called structured data. The best part? This process is automatic once both apps are set up.

How to set it up

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin.

  2. Make sure you have the Yoast SEO app installed on your Shopify site.

    If Yoast SEO isn’t already on your store, go to the Shopify App Store and search for “Yoast SEO”. Click “Install” and complete the installation.Screenshot of the Yoast SEO app page in the Shopify App Store

  3. Install the Fera app.

    Go to the Shopify App Store and search for “Fera Reviews”. Click “Install” and follow the on-screen instructions.Screenshot of the Fera app page in the Shopify App Store

  4. Set up the Fera app.

    From your Shopify admin panel, open the Fera Reviews dashboard. Find the “Configuration” section. Click on “Apps & Integrations”.Screenshot of the Fera app in Shopify

  5. Look for the “Yoast integration” option.

    Check if Yoast SEO is visible in this list of integrations.

  6. Integration complete!

    Fera and Yoast are now working together. Your Fera product ratings will automatically be visible in search engine results, making your store more noticeable.

Verifying if the integration works

So, you’ve followed the steps above. Now, how can you find out if the Fera and Yoast SEO integration works? There are two ways to find out.

  1. Source code check

View your website’s source code by right-clicking on the front end of your site, and then selecting “View Page Source”. In the source code, search for “AggregateRating”. This section confirms the integration.

  1. Site search check

Use a search engine and type:

site:https://www.yourstore.com/products/product-name

Pick a product with a review. If the integration is successful, the product’s rating should be visible in the search results.

If you’re using the AI title & description generator in Yoast SEO, you might come across a notification that says:

You’ve reached the rate limit for today!
You have reached the Yoast AI rate limit. Please restrict the number of your requests.

This notification means that you’ve hit a usage limit we have set for the AI feature in Yoast SEO. Let’s dive into the details of these rate limits, so you understand why they are in place.

Why have we set rate limits?

These rate limits are there to make things fair and smooth for everyone, because they prevent any single user from overwhelming the system with an excessive number of requests. This helps maintain the quality and responsiveness of the AI title & description generator for all. So, while these limits might seem restrictive, they ultimately create a better experience for everyone.

Current rate limits

Currently, the following rate limits are configured for the AI feature in Yoast SEO. These limits are set per license or per user (IP-based) for each individual WordPress site. It’s important to note that for each of these limits, the restriction is based on whichever limit you hit first. Please be aware that these rate limits might change in the future.

Minutely rate limit

The first limit is a maximum of 10 requests per minute per user (IP-based) for each individual WordPress site. If you reach 10 suggestion requests per minute, further requests will be blocked for 5 minutes.

Hourly rate limit

The second limit is a maximum of 5 token requests per hour per user (IP-based) for each individual WordPress site. If you reach 5 token requests per hour, further requests will be blocked for one hour.

A token request is created every time you start using the Yoast AI feature in order to verify the user, site identity and rights to use the title & description generator. In some cases this token request can fail, and creating requests again leads to hitting the rate limit. If this happens, check the FAQ: AI title & description generator in Yoast SEO for solutions.

Daily rate limit

The third limit is a maximum of 100 requests per day per license for each individual WordPress site. If you reach 100 requests within a day, further requests will be blocked until the next day.

Monthly rate limit

The fourth limit is a maximum of 3000 requests per month per license for each individual WordPress site. If you reach 3000 requests within a month, further requests will be blocked until the next month starts.

How to prevent hitting a rate limit

To avoid hitting these limits, pay attention to how many requests you make to Yoast SEO’s AI feature. If you want to make requests for a lot of your posts, pages, products, categories and tags, don’t do them all together. Try to spread out your requests; do some now and do some later.

Yoast SEO comes with a breadcrumbs functionality. In this article, we’ll explain what (Yoast SEO) breadcrumbs are, why they are important, and how you can add them to your site.

What are breadcrumbs? Why are they important?

Breadcrumbs are a way to help your users better navigate your site and its structure. Additionally, they can appear on Google and provide a better user experience. If you want to know more about breadcrumbs please visit our: What are breadcrumbs and why are they important for SEO guide.

Did you know that to make it easy for users and search engines to navigate your site, you need more than breadcrumbs? Yoast SEO Premium comes with an internal linking feature, as well as workouts that can help make your content easy to find. These tools will help you keep your content structured, findable, and up-to-date.

What do the Yoast SEO breadcrumbs do?

The Yoast SEO breadcrumbs will output JSON-LD data in the source code. We have found this to be the most reliable method of implementing breadcrumbs for rich snippets.

How to use the Yoast breadcrumbs block to add breadcrumbs to single posts and pages

With Yoast SEO, it is possible to add breadcrumbs to single posts and pages. You can do that with the breadcrumbs block. All you need to do is add the block to the post or the page, and that’s it! Note that the breadcrumbs you add with the block are only visible on the individual page you added the block to. You will need to use the steps we mention below if you want to have site-wide breadcrumbs. To learn how to use the block, watch the video below.

What do the Yoast SEO breadcrumbs look like?

Once configured, Yoast will show the JSON-LD in the source code, like this:

"@type": "BreadcrumbList",
"@id": "https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/#breadcrumb",
"itemListElement": [
  {
    "@type": "ListItem",
    "position": 1,
    "item": {
      "@type": "WebPage",
      "@id": "https://yoast.com/",
      "url": "https://yoast.com/",
      "name": "Home"
    }
  },
  {
    "@type": "ListItem",
    "position": 2,
    "item": {
      "@type": "WebPage",
      "@id": "https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/",
      "url": "https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/",
      "name": "WordPress plugins"
    }
  },
  {
    "@type": "ListItem",
    "position": 3,
    "item": {
      "@id": "https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/#webpage"
    }
  }
]

Eventually, Google will replace the link that appears above your blue SEO title with one that shows the breadcrumb pathway.

How do I implement Yoast SEO breadcrumbs site-wide?

The steps below are a temporary solution as manual edits made to theme files may be overwritten with future theme updates. Please contact the theme developer for a permanent solution.

We’ve written an article about the importance of breadcrumbs for SEO. To implement the breadcrumbs function in Yoast SEO, you will have to edit your theme. If you are not sure how to edit the theme files, your theme developer may be able to help. We recommend that prior to any editing of the theme files, a backup is taken. Your host provider can help you take a backup.

Copy the following code into your theme where you want the breadcrumbs to be. If you are not sure, you will need to experiment with placement:

<?php
if ( function_exists('yoast_breadcrumb') ) {
  yoast_breadcrumb( '<p id="breadcrumbs">','</p>' );
}
?>

NOTE: Depending on your theme you may or may not need to add in the beginning <php and ending ?> PHP tags. If you are not sure, your theme developer can help.

Common places where you could place your breadcrumbs are inside your single.php and/or page.php file just above the page’s title. Moreover, another option that makes it really easy in some themes is by just pasting the code in header.php at the very end.

In most non-WooTheme themes, this code snippet should not be added to your functions.php file. If you have trouble locating the correct place to add the code, please contact the theme developer for assistance.

How can I add breadcrumbs with a shortcode?

Yoast can output breadcrumbs with a shortcode on a site’s posts, pages, and taxonomies. If you are using the block editor, you will need to insert a shortcode block and add the following code:

[wpseo_breadcrumb]

If you are using the classic editor (or if the post type does not yet support the block editor) you will need to click on the Text editor and add in the shortcode (see image below).

This will output the breadcrumb pathway into that part of the page. The only way to remove the breadcrumb from the page is to delete the shortcode. It cannot be disabled in the SEO – Search Appearance – Breadcrumb section. If you use the breadcrumb shortcode you do not need to add the breadcrumb code snippet described here to your theme’s files.

Note that the shortcode works only on the page that has them, it is not a global solution. If you want to add breadcrumbs to all your post types efficiently, you will need to use that code snippet.

How do I enable and set up the Yoast breadcrumbs?

Yoast SEO offers a breadcrumb feature. This feature is disabled by default as you or your theme developer must add code to your theme files. After that, go to SEO → Search Appearance → Breadcrumbs and enable the breadcrumb feature.

  1. Log in to your WordPress website.

    When you’re logged in, you will be in your ‘Dashboard’.

  2. Click on ‘Yoast SEO’.

    On the left-hand side, you will see a menu. In that menu, click on ‘Yoast SEO’.Screenshot of the "Yoast SEO" menu item.

  3. Click on “Settings”.

    The “Yoast SEO” settings will expand providing you with additional options. Click on “Settings”.

  6. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and toggle the switch behind “Enable breadcrumbs for your theme”.

To disable the Yoast SEO breadcrumbs, toggle the switch off.Screenshot of the toggle that allows you to enable/disable breadcrumbs in the Yoast SEO settings.

  7. If you have enabled the breadcrumbs, configure the settings to your preference.

    Note that there is no “Breadcrumbs for pages” option, so pages are not shown. Instead, a shortcode must be used to display them.Screenshot of the Breadcrumbs settings in Yoast SEO

  8. Click “Save changes”.

  9. Show the “Blog page” feature.

    If you want to use the “Blog page” feature, you will need to set up a static page for your posts page in the Settings – Reading section of your WordPress site.

FAQ about Yoast SEO breadcrumbs

I’m a theme developer, how do I integrate Yoast breadcrumbs in my non-Woo theme?

I’m seeing two sets of breadcrumbs; what should I do?

In very rare cases, you might see two sets of breadcrumbs on single product pages due to a bug. This is the case if you:
– install WooCommerce 7.9.0 from scratch (so: not upgrading an existing store);
and you use a block-based theme (such as Twenty Twenty-Three);
and you use Yoast SEO for WooCommerce with the option Replace WooCommerce breadcrumbs set to on (as is by default).

There are two ways to work around this problem:
1. Set Replace WooCommerce breadcrumbs to off and just stick to the WooCommerce breadcrumbs.
2. Set Replace WooCommerce breadcrumbs to off. Then, visit Appearance > Editor, find the Single product template, and replace the Store breadcrumbs block with the Yoast SEO breadcrumbs block.

In the battle against misinformation and to promote high-quality, reliable content, Google introduced the E-E-A-T signals (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness). These signals help Google assess the credibility of websites and reward those that offer factual and trustworthy information.

But how do you convince Google your site is trustworthy? How do you demonstrate your site’s credibility and editorial integrity? That’s where the Site policies settings in Yoast SEO Premium come in. These settings allow you to explicitly identify your organization’s important policy pages, like your publishing principles, ethics policy, and diversity policy, in a way that search engines understand.

Publishing principles schema

By identifying your policy pages in the Site policies settings in Yoast SEO Premium, we automatically add the correct Schema.org publishingPrinciples structured data to your site. This makes sure search engines understand that these pages contain your publishing principles, and that your site adheres to good publishing practices and values transparency. Schema.org is a widely recognized vocabulary that search engines use to interpret and display information in search results.

Why should I use the Site policies settings?

When you use the Site policies settings in Yoast SEO Premium, you explicitly identify your policy pages, such as ethics or diversity policies. This shows search engines like Google that you’re serious about following good publishing practices. And, because of the importance of E-E-A-T, this might lead to higher rankings. Identifying your editorial principles is especially important for (news) publishers. By using the Site policies settings, you’re sending a clear message to search engines that you take your role as a reliable source of information seriously.

How to use the Site policies settings in Yoast SEO

  1. Log in to your WordPress site.

    You will be on your WordPress dashboard.

  2. Go to the Yoast SEO settings.

  6. Save your changes.

Have you received a warning from Google’s Rich Results Test or Google Search Console about a missing field called hasMerchantReturnPolicy? Then you might be wondering if there is a problem with your site. The short answer is: no. This warning doesn’t mean something is wrong with your site; it’s there because Google has updated its handling of product schema for returns policies.

Screenshot of the warning about the missing return policy field in the RRT
Screenshot of the warning about the missing return policy info in the Rich Results Test

Understanding Google’s update for returns policies

Recently, Google made changes to how it handles product schema for describing returns policies. In a nutshell, you can now provide details about your returns policy, including supported countries, timing constraints, return fees, return methods, and more in your site’s Schema.org structured data code. When you add this info to your structured data, you make your merchant listing eligible to show these returns policy details in Google’s search results.

Rich results require certain fields to be filled out, such as the product name, while others, like the returns policy information, are optional. Leaving out optional fields won’t hurt your performance.

Why am I getting warnings?

As a result of this update, users who haven’t defined their returns policy in their schema (so, in your site’s structured data code) are receiving warnings from Google Search Console and Google’s Rich Results Test. If you rely on Yoast WooCommerce SEO or Yoast SEO for Shopify for your product schema, this is probably the case.

After careful consideration, we have decided not to support Google’s new returns policy schema at this time. This is mainly because WooCommerce and Shopify lack structured inputs for defining returns policies, and creating and managing an entire interface solely for this purpose would be resource-intensive for us.

What should I do?

So, what should you do when you receive a warning about missing returns policy information? Well, in most cases, you won’t need to do, change, or fix anything. Your product schema is valid. The schema that is missing (MerchantReturnPolicy) is optional, and leaving out optional schema won’t hurt your performance.

If you would like to request Yoast to support returns policy schema in Yoast WooCommerce SEO or Yoast SEO for Shopify, please reach out to our support team.

We all want our content to be easily readable and accessible to our visitors, right? But did you know that using center-aligned text can negatively impact your website’s SEO? This type of alignment is considered bad for readability and accessibility. That’s why we’ve added a text alignment check to the readability analysis in Yoast SEO Premium. In this article, we’ll explain what the alignment check assesses.

What does the text alignment check assess?

The text alignment check in Yoast SEO Premium’s readability analysis checks if you are using center-aligned text excessively in your content.

What’s center-aligned text?

What do we mean when we say center-aligned text? Alignment refers to the way text lines up. Let’s take a look at this image below. See those blue lines? These lines show the alignment of the three paragraphs in the image. If you choose to left-align your text, the blue line will be on the left side of the paragraph. But if you go for center-aligned text, the line will be placed in the middle of the paragraph. When your text is right-aligned, the line is at the right side of the paragraph.

Example of left-aligned, center-aligned, and right-aligned text (source: Google Fonts)

What feedback will I get?

The check analyzes your content for blocks of text that are center-aligned and have more than 50 characters. It then provides a warning indicated by a red light. Additionally, it will provide a recommendation to change the alignment to left-aligned for LTR (left-to-right) languages or right-aligned for RTL (right-to-left) languages. Most languages use an LTR script. Examples of languages that use RTL script are Arabic and Hebrew.

The feedback from the text alignment check in Yoast SEO Premium for an LTR language

You’ll also see an eye button next to the feedback. If you click this button, Yoast SEO Premium will highlight the text that is center-aligned, so you can easily spot which part of your content needs to be changed.

How to fix a red light for the text alignment check

Alright, so how do you fix your content if you see a red light for the alignment check? First, click the eye button next to the alignment check feedback to highlight the text that is center-aligned. Then, change your alignment from center-aligned to left-aligned (for LTR languages) or right-aligned (for RTL languages). Fixing alignment issues in your text will improve your content’s readability, accessibility, and user experience. Eventually, this may contribute to higher rankings!

We ended support for our Zapier integration with Yoast SEO version 20.7. In this article, you’ll read what this means for you and what you should do if you want to continue using Yoast SEO and Zapier.

What does this mean for you?

Starting on May 2, 2023, we have soft-deprecated the Yoast SEO integration on Zapier. This means that existing Zaps using the Yoast SEO integration will continue to work only for users who have not updated to version 20.7 of Yoast SEO. If you update to version 20.7 or higher, your existing Zaps using the Yoast SEO integration will stop working.

What should you do?

So, what should you do if you want to continue using Yoast SEO and Zapier?

Check your Zaps

To see which of your Zaps use Yoast SEO, you can use this link. This will help you identify which Zaps will be affected by the integration’s end of support.

Switch to Webhooks by Zapier

To continue working with Yoast SEO in Zaps, we recommend configuring your API calls using Webhooks by Zapier. This will allow you to continue using Yoast SEO’s features in your Zaps. You can find Yoast SEO’s API documentation here.

Questions? Get in touch with support

If you have any questions or concerns about these changes, don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly at support@yoast.com. We’ll be happy to assist you with any issues you may encounter.

You’ve received a notification that you need to renew because your product subscription has expired. Quickly fix this to use all Yoast features again.

Which problems occur if you don’t fix this:

  • Your site won’t be up to date with the latest Google updates.
  • You won’t have access to new features and updates.
  • You can’t contact support for help.
  • You’re more vulnerable to security issues.

How can you solve this problem?

Depending on your situation, there are 2 different ways to solve this.

1. Renew your subscriptions in your My.Yoast account

Follow these 5 steps to renew your subscription.

  1. Log into your MyYoast account.
  2. Go to “Account”.
  3. Find the subscription you want to renew and click “Manage”. If you don’t see a subscription, it has expired too long ago and you need to buy a new one.
  4. Renew your subscription by clicking “extend subscription with a year”.
  5. Follow the steps in the checkout and complete your payment.

2. Buy a new product subscription

You can’t renew your subscription if it expired more than 30 days ago. In this case, you need to buy a new subscription. This also means that your subscription isn’t visible in your MyYoast account.

Buy a new Yoast SEO Premium subscription

Or browse other Yoast products.

Could you use some extra help?

Please don’t hesitate to contact the Yoast support team if you have any questions. You can do so by sending the support team an email or through the support overview.

You can easily upgrade your single plugin subscription to a bundle subscription that includes Yoast SEO Premium and one add-on. To facilitate the upgrade, we apply the remaining value of your current subscription toward the regular price of the bundled product.

How is the remaining value calculated?

During the first 30 days after payment, we will use the amount paid, excluding VAT/Tax, as the remaining value. After the first 30 days, we multiply the remaining days by the daily rate (price / subscription length) to determine the remaining value.

How is the new term period determined?

We divide the remaining value by the daily rate (price / subscription length) to determine the new term period.

Will the subscription billing style change?

No. The subscription will retain the same billing style of automatic or manual renewals going forward. The renewal amount will be increased to the regular rate of the new product with any applicable bulk or renewal discounts.

Will I need to uninstall or reinstall the plugin after the modification process is completed?

No. You can continue using the same plugin you already installed on your site. Any plugin not already installed will need to be installed on your site.

Will I lose any of the hard work I’ve done on my site?

No. Yoast SEO stores SEO data and settings in the database, so subscription modifications will not cause any data loss.

How can I upgrade my single plugin subscription to a bundle subscription?

Follow the steps in this article to upgrade your subscription to a bundle subscription.

Are you using the local pickup option in Yoast Local SEO for your online store? If so, it’s time to make a switch. With the release of WooCommerce 7.4, a new local pickup option is now available. To ensure your store continues to provide the best possible experience for your customers, it’s important to transition from the soon-to-be deprecated Yoast Local SEO option to the WooCommerce option. In this article, we’ll walk you through the steps you need to take to switch to the local pickup option in WooCommerce.

Why should you switch?

The local pickup option in Yoast Local SEO is going to be deprecated soon. Therefore, if you’re using this feature, it’s important to transition to the new local pickup option in WooCommerce. This way, you’ll avoid any potential issues for your store.

What will change for you?

Switching to the local pickup option in WooCommerce means you have to switch from using the checkout shortcode to the WooCommerce Checkout block. This change can impact the appearance of your checkout page and there could be some technical considerations to keep in mind. So, before you dive into making any changes, make sure you know what you’re doing.

Just like the local pickup option in Yoast Local SEO, the local pickup option in WooCommerce allows you to set pickup locations and add a price for customers who choose local pickup. When it comes to Schema structured data, nothing will change when you switch to the WooCommerce option. Read more about it in the WooCommerce documentation or in this article on WooCommerce blocks.

How to switch to the local pickup option in WooCommerce

  1. Log in to your WordPress site.

    You will be in your WordPress dashboard.

  2. Open the page editor for your checkout page.

    Click “Pages”, then find your checkout page and click it to open the page editor. Screenshot of the Checkout page in the Pages overview

  3. Remove the checkout shortcode.

    Remove the [woocommerce _ checkout] shortcode block by clicking the block, followed by the three dots, and then selecting “Remove Shortcode”.

  4. Add the WooCommerce Checkout block.

    Hit the + button, type in “checkout”, and then select the WooCommerce Checkout block to insert it.

  5. Save your checkout page by clicking “Update” in the top-right corner.

    Click the blue “Update” button to save your checkout page.

  6. Click “WooCommerce” and then “Settings”.

    In the admin menu on the left-hand side, click “WooCommerce”. In the menu that expands, click “Settings”. Screenshot of the WooCommerce admin menu item, highlighting the Settings option.

  7. Click “Shipping” and select the “Local pickup” option.

    In the Shipping settings, you should see an option called “Local Pickup”. Screenshot of the Local pickup option in the WooCommerce settings

  8. Enable “Local pickup” by ticking the box.

    You can add a price for local pickup and pickup locations on this page as well.

  9. Click “Save changes”.

  10. Now, click “Local Store Pickup”.

    On the “Shipping” tab, select “Local Store Pickup”.

  11. Disable the Local Store Pickup shipping method.

    Untick the box behind “Enable/Disable”. This disables the local store pickup option in Yoast Local SEO. Disable the Local Store Pickup option

  12. Click “Save changes”.

  13. Go back to the page editor for your checkout page.

Yoast SEO Premium 20.1 introduced an integration with Mastodon. Mastodon is a decentralized, open-source social network. Think of it like Twitter, but instead of being controlled by one big company, it’s run by lots of different people all around the world. With Yoast SEO Premium, you can now easily verify your website on Mastodon.

Why should you verify your site on Mastodon?

You can verify yourself as the owner of the links in your profile metadata on Mastodon. Verifying your website on Mastodon lets others know that your Mastodon profile is officially linked to your website. This can help increase the credibility of your brand.

In addition, you can make sure search engines like Google recognize your Mastodon profile. When you fill in your Mastodon profile in the Yoast SEO Premium settings, the plugin will use this data to generate structured data code. This code helps search engines understand that this Mastodon profile belongs to your business, which means that if you have a knowledge panel, they may display your Mastodon profile in there as well.
